A provincial government ministry required a rebuild of its enterprise project management systems to align with current industry best practices. Midgard performed a review of industry best practices and provided solutions to strategically align the ministry’s vision and strategy with the best practices, in order to improve project governance and strengthen decision making within the organization.
Following significant research, Midgard presented two enterprise-level solutions as well as approximately eight other project management best practice standards, frameworks and methodologies which could be applied. The recommended options included:
1) A custom-built methodology coupled with best practice standards such as the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK)
2) An APMG methodology coupled with best practice standards such as the PMBOK.
The ministry moved to implement the APMG methodology approach using a program management methodology. Midgard successfully implemented the APMG methodology. As a result project execution is now enhanced and better governance is in place. This successful enterprise initiative spanned multiple business functions and units and the impact to business units and groups and were far reaching and complex.
